Most Estate planning attorney’s take a “one-size fits all” approach with their clients; they do this so that they can work with as many people as possible in a short period of time. The problem is that the client has an impersonal experience; but worse than that, this way of planning can lead to unintended results in the long run for the family.

We’ve been specifically trained as a Personal Family Lawyer to plan for your life and death, and to ensure that if you have minor children, they are never raised by anyone you wouldn’t want or taken into the care of strangers. And, if your children are adults, we help you weave them into your estate plan with care and forethought that most other lawyers simply do not have the training to do.

PLANNING FOR THE ONES YOU LOVE
During the Session, we will look at what would happen to all of what you have and everyone you love, if anything were to happen to you.
Then, we'll determine a plan together to make sure everything goes the way you want it to so you are always in control. And so your family always knows just how much you care.
Should we decide there are things we can do to take care of your family better than they are taken care of now, we will present you with planning options that allow you to decide on your fee and the level of service that is right for you and your family.

How We Are Different
Explaining to you how we're different:
Explaining to you how we're different requires an explanation of what the "traditional" experience with a lawyer is like. If you've worked with a lawyer to prepare estate planning documents for you in the past, this will sound familiar.
During the traditional experience, you'll go in and meet with a lawyer who will oftentimes make things seem very complicated and confusing.
You'll have a good idea if your lawyer is smart and seems to know what they are doing, so you'll nod and answer questions, as if you understand everything. Because you want to do the right thing for your family, you'll have the lawyer prepare documents for you and you'll sign the documents, feeling relieved you got THAT taken care of.
You'll take your fancy estate planning binder full of documents home, stick it on a shelf or in a drawer, mark estate planning off your checklist as DONE, feel good and never think about it again.
Arrange your schedule properly.
No Time For Mistakes
your family's lawyer for life
Our Family Wealth VIP Membership programs are part of what set us apart and allow us to care for you and your family throughout all life's stages.
Make Sure Your Plan Changes With Your Life, Your Assets and the Law
In addition, we ensure your assets are owned in the right way throughout your lifetime. There are currently billions of dollars sitting in State Unclaimed Property depots and we never want to see a penny ofyour assets there. Or for your family to be stuck dealing with the Court when you've worked so diligently to make things as easy as possible. That's why we prepare a Family Wealth Inventory of your assets and keep it up to date year in and year out. So your loved ones can always locate what you own and how you own it, if and when necessary.

PLANNING FOR YOUR CHILDREN
Having a Will Alone Simply Does Not Ensure the Care of Your Kids If the Unthinkable Happens to You!
If you are a parent of minor children (or those with special needs) who are counting on you, your estate plan must begin with ensuring your children would always be taken care of by the people you want, in the way you want, no matter what happens.
At Meyer Law one of our areas of greatest expertise is in planning for the well-being and care of the children you love.
Without advance legal planning for the care of your children, if the unthinkable happens to you, here's what could happen:
WHAT IS A KIDS PROTECTION PLAN?
A Kids Protection Plan is a set of instructions, legal documents and even an ID card for your wallet, which you need to have if you have kids at home who count on you for their well-being and care.
If you are in an accident, your Kids Protection Plan will make sure your children are never taken into the custody of Child Protective Services, strangers or the care of anyone you wouldn't want because the authorities don't have clear instructions from you. And your Kids Protection Plan will ensure your children are raised by people you choose, not someone chosen by a Judge who doesn't know you.
HOW MUCH SHOULD MY ESTATE PLAN COST?
And, it's a good question that I want to answer for you as clearly as I can, given that there is not a "one-size fits all solution" for every family, and I would run quickly away from any lawyer who can tell you exactly what your plan would cost via email or over the phone, without a comprehensive discovery process.
You see, this is exactly why most estate plans fail. Families shop around based on price (because they don't know any other way to shop for an estate plan), and end up with a traditional plan, which is a set of documents that do not actually work when the family needs them.
If you'd like to read more about this, please read my article here on "how shopping around for an estate plan could leave your family with an unexpected, expensive, uninvited mess.
